| Caring | |||
| Hang the fur on a formed hanger when it is wet, while ensuring that the storage area is airy, and use a soft towel or cloth to remove excess water; stroke gently with the nap; allow to dry; then shake the garment vigorously. | |||
| Cleaning | |||
| Professional cleaning by a furrier's method only. | |||
| Storage | |||
| Place the garment in your furrier's cold storage vault over the summer months. Fur storage means more than storage in a cold vault. It means inspecting, brushing and cleaning them before putting them away. It means protecting them against moths, burglars and fire. Dryness and heat sap the natural oils, cause hairs to become brittle, to curl and lose their luster. Furs should be cleaned and stored every spring, even if they have not been worn. Consider the dust that gathers on the floor of your closet. That same dust permeates the pelts of your furs. | |||
| Repair | |||
| Repair any sign of damage immediately. | |||
| Avoid | |||
| • Avoid abusing the garment with unnecessary friction. Avoid shoulder bags. • Use caution when climbing in and out of cars. • Exercise caution with certain upholstery fabrics which rub the fur, therefore possibly breaking off guard hairs. • Give the fur breathing space by avoiding covers and bags that might suffocate it (without circulating air, furs dry and the tips become crushed, eventually breaking off). |
|||
| Never | |||
| • Never dry the garment on a radiator • In case of a spill, blot liquid with a terry towel and take to your furrier as soon as possible. Never use cleaning fluid or try the cleaning process yourself. • Never apply perfume, directly to your fur. • Never pin anything on garment, such as flowers, buttons, jewelry, etc. |
